On the 14th of June we celebrated yet another year of broadcasting with a fun Pairs Texas Scramble tournament at La Cala Golf, bringing together a fabulous group of golfers enjoying a great golf course, fabulous lunch and live entertainment with the amazing Thomas Henry.

The tournament was sponsored by Smartmove Marbella, Protect Security, Simply Events and Catering and Ecoofactura, offering energy optimization. The Pairs Better Ball Winners were:

First place: Adrian Beers and Liam Beers
Second place: Steve Burns and Kasper Jensen
Third place: Darren Stephenson and Nigel Clapp

The Ku'Damm Cup 2024
 



The KuDamm Cup for 2024 brought over 84 players to compete in a Pairs Texas Scramble at La Cala Golf organized by Central FM Promotions.

All players were given a 20 euro meal voucher courtesy of the Ku’Damm Restaurant, a fabulous Ku Damm golf towel, a wonderful 2 course lunch with drinks, raffle draw and an incredible show presented by Diva Fever’s Melissa Carver and Toni Leigha Dempsey.

Third Place: Mark Azram and John Shiers

Celebrating 28 years of broadcasting
 



What an incredible day at La Cala Golf!  Another fabulous golf tournament celebrated by many enthusiastic golfers and including not only the golf competition, but also fabulous live entertainment with the amazing duo Diva Fever.

A tasty lunch was served during the show, followed by the prize giving and a raffle draw.  

La Cala Golf never disappoint.  The tournament was held on one of the championship 3 courses, the America Course, and the service and staff as professional and friendly to all as always.

The Pairs Texas Scramble Winners were:

Second Place:  Kenny Nelson and Stuart McCallum
Third Place:  Martin Reay and Sebastian Maringolo

The Ku'Damm cup 2023



La Cala Golf resort was once again the venue for The KuDamm Cup Golf Tournament 2023. The format was Pairs Texas Scramble and was organised by Central FM Promotions.

The green fees included a welcome pack on arrival, golf, 2 course lunch with drinks, free players raffle and top quality entertainment with Johnny G, Melissa Carver and backing dancers. Each player also received a 20 euro voucher for the KuDamm Restaurant.

A huge congratulation to all of the winners.

FIRST PLACE: Sebastian Maringolo and Martin Reay
SECOND PLACE: Niklas Jacobsson and Maud Jacobsson
THIRD PLACE: Pascale Hall and Richard Bell-Young

Trophies for Nearest The Pin and Longest Drives were also up for grabs. Winners of Nearest The Pin trophies were, Svetlana Kripaytite, Elaine Conroy, Maud Jacobsson, Margaret Lawson and Arlene Atteck. The Long Drive winners were Rory James and Ludmila Kadirova.

August 2023 saw Central FM host a Pairs Better Ball tournament at La Cala Golf bringing together a fabulous group of golfers to yet another amazing event.

Live entertainment featured the incredible band Queen of Magic, who are one of the best Queen tribute bands on the coast.

Central FM hosted yet another amazing golf tournament at La Cala Golf to celebrate our 27th year of broadcasting across the coast.
We included great live entertainment with the amazing band Revival and a brilliant debut performance from Jessica Brown.  

Hole 10 offered a fun Central FM lucky dip and a drinks hole sponsored by Grupo Solar electric with a hamper draw won by James Barrett.

La Cala Golf has 3 incredible golf courses and the one used for the tournament was The America course.

The third KuDamm Cup was another huge success with over 80 players taking part in a Pairs Texas Scramble at La Cala Golf organized by Central FM Promotions.

Central FM Rock ‘n Roll Tournament August 2021

Central FM hosted another fabulous Pairs Texas Scramble tournament at Alhaurín Golf with an incredible Rock and Roll theme on August the 28th 2021.



Johnny G  as Elvis and his wonderful backing singers brought a fun show to all the participants, clients and guests.

Central FM’s 25th Anniversary Tournament at La Cala Golf

Central FM hosted its first tournament at La Cala Golf for our 25th anniversary which was celebrated  with extreme excitement after sixteen months of restrictions due to the Covid situation.



Being the 9th tournament we have organized, we again included great live entertainment;  this time with Johnny G who put on an excellent Soul and Motown show with the lovely backing vocalists  Melissa Carver and Ida Norde.  During the show a tribute was paid to the Blues Brothers and  the amazing Bruno Mars too.

La Cala Golf has 3 incredible golf courses and the one used for the tournament was The Americas course.  Boasting fabulous views and in immaculate condition, the players had an amazing time.

  • Second place: Simon Cutts and Gregory Howes
  • Third place: Ian Barton and Kieran Maloney

Central FM Golf Torrequebrada Tournament 2020


Central FM’s first tournament at Golf Torrequebrada, which took place in February, was another huge success.

This beautiful golf course, voted one of the best on the Costa Del Sol, boasts magnificent greens and stunning scenery.  The whole tournament was fun for all from start to finish.

Sponsors included the Ku’Damm Restaurant Fuengirola, Arcoplan Mijas Costa, South Coast Kitchens Costa, Vicantan Restaurant Benalmádena and Mark Gibson International Financial Adviser.

Players challenged each other for great trophies in an exciting Pairs Texas scramble!

Five Nearest the Pin Trophies were also up for grabs.  These were sponsored by Martin’s Hair and Beauty Lounge, Smartmove Marbella, Currencies Direct, Sumerco Cash and Carry and Central FM’s own nearest the pin in two shots the par four, 18th hole.
Golf Torrequebrada also served a fabulous lunch and Central FM provided excellent live entertainment with Fade Out Duo who had everyone singing and dancing to popular songs.

Agent  Roger Damsels, also known as Agent 006 and three quarter, is found  murdered, but who killed him? Join us at Restaurante La Finca for a 3  course set meal and see if your team can guess who dunnit?  6 suspects,  one killer!

After the Murder Mystery there will be a James Bond Quiz to test your Bond knowledge!  Teams are of 4.

Tickets are just 32 euros per person. Restaurante La Finca is by the Padel Club, just down the road from the Xanit Hospital.

November saw Central FM try something a bit different, a 4 ball scramble at Alhaurin Golf!  Sponsored by Mark Gibson Financial Adviser and JIll Gregory from Currencies Direct, the tournament was another huge success.

Trophies, free raffle draw and live entertainment with Fade Out Duo, who sing in both Spanish and English.

The winners were Kieran Moloney, Dean James, Andrew Whitney and Jorgen Olsen.

Second place trophies went to Alan Holtham, David Retallack, Nigel Smith and Marc Slinkert

CENTRAL FM IS HOLDING A GREAT TOURNAMENT AT GOLF TORREQUEBRADA!

On the 8th of February, Central FM is hosting another great tournament at Golf Torrequebrada.



The format is Pairs Texas Scramble where players of any hcp, gender and nationality can take part. This is an amateur tournament and the play hcp is 30 % of the combined playing hcp.

There will be a shotgun start at 09:00 hrs and the registration of the participants will be between 08:00 and 08:30 hrs in the ProShop. After the competition a prize-giving lunch is served, which is followed by live music with Fade Out Duo who sing in Spanish and English plus some dancing in the Clubhouse.

The Ku’Damm Cup 2019!
 
The Ku’Damm cup, sponsored by the Ku’Damm Restaurant was another huge success.  Organised by Central FM Promotions and held at Alhaurin Golf for the second year, this event included great live entertainment with Fade Out Duo, prizes for the raffle draw and trophies for all the winners!

The tournament format was a Pairs Texas Scramble and all who took part received a 20 euro meal voucher courtesy of the Ku’Damm Restaurant which is situated in the Port of Fuengirola.



Michael Lienhoop, owner of the Ku’Damm Restaurant assisted Andy Little and Nataly García with the prize presentation and is looking forward to the next Ku’Damm Cup tournament!

First place was won by Antonio Lopez Fernandez and Santiago Rios Rubio, second place went to Alpo Pakarinen and Timo Niemi, and third place to Juan Jose Grande Roman and Jesus Antonio Alonso Martin.



Nearest the pin winners were David Worrall, Steve Burns, who also got the Hole in One, Andy Whitney, Juan Jose Grande and Frode Nordbro.

Longest Drives were won by Vega Arranz for both ladies categories and Luke Holden and Frode Nordbro for the gentlemans category.

Central FM’s Fun Murder Mystery and Quiz Night 2019

Central FM Promotions presented fun events this year, namely a Murder Mystery and a Quiz Night packed with entertainment and featuring a Central FM based Blankety Blank!  The events, which took place at Alhaurín Golf, included a three course meal, drinks and some dancing afterwards.



The Murder Mystery, Murder on the Ghost Train, was performed by the talented Mystery Players; Lynn Halliday, David Vincent, Owain Griffiths, Sarah Jane Gale, Margaret Williams, Sarah Coombes and Chris Beckett.  A great comedy and murder play about who killed Don Breathin!  Teams of eight tried to figure out who the murderer was in between courses, giggles and laughter and on this occasion, only one table left victorious.



The Quiz Night was also filled with good laughs.  First the teams of four battled it out with song intros and general knowledge questions and then Central FM presenters formed the Blankety Blank panel along with Sabina Boyce from Alhaurín Golf. The contestants all won a Central FM Blankety Blank gnome and the winner got a few extra prizes including a giant Teddy.

Central FM Promotions looks forward to bringing the coast more fun events next year.

Central FM Promotions brings you MURDER ON THE GHOST TRAIN, a fun-filled Murder Mystery Dinner Party performed by the very talented Mystery Players!

Enjoy a 3 course meal with main course of chicken or vegetarian and join the investigation team to help discover who killed Don Breathin!

CENTRAL FM TOURNAMENT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!



The third Central FM tournament could not have gone better with 72 players challenging each other for great trophies in an exciting Pairs Texas scramble!  Alhaurín Golf served a fabulous lunch and excellent live entertainment with Fade Out Duo was provided with everyone singing and dancing to popular songs.

The Winners were:
First place : Steven Brown and Hayden Brown
Second place : Kees de Cock and Frank Scheelings
Third place : Kieran Moloney and Dean James




Nearest the Pin trophies were won by Lynn Fisher, Miguel de la Cruz, Alexander Walsoe, Andreas Golob and Michael Brown, who also won the Central FM BBQ prize for one of the holes!

Longest Drive trophies were won by Lynn Fisher, Dean James, Rocio Navarro and Central FM’s John Gale.

Andrew Whitney from South Coast Kitchens very kindly donated a signed Miguel Ángel Jiménez shirt which was auctioned for an incredible 650 euros!  The Castillo de Monda Hotel donated a night’s stay and the Vithas Xanit hospital an overall checkup which with other generous donations raised an amazing 1700 euros for the children’s home in Málaga, Ciudad de los Niños who are always in need of a variety of summer items.

THE SALON VARIETES THEATRE: A THEATRE FOR EVERYONE!



The Salon Varietes Theatre was established in 1925 and continued until 1956 when it was converted as a cinema. In the mid 1980s a determined group of British expatriates, many of them with theatre experience, saw the opportunity to re-establish the building as a theatre. In 1985 the Salon Varietes Theatre was reborn and has been thriving ever since.

Nowadays the Salon is much more than a theatre; it's also a meeting point for individuals and various clubs and societies.

Youth plays a vital part in this volunteer-run theatre and it has been a pleasure to witness so many of our child performers going on to forge theatre-related careers.

THE KU'DAMM CUP 2018


The 29th of December saw the first of a great yearly event brought to Alhaurín Golf by the Ku’Damm Restaurant in Fuengirola, organized by Central FM Promotions.

88 players took part for first, second and third place trophies in a Pairs Texas Scramble.  Five Nearest the Pin trophies and two Longest Drive trophies were also part of the challenge.

All the players were given a 20 euro voucher courtesy of the Ku’Damm Restaurant and the event was rounded off with a great performance from Wayne Ward who performed a mix of Elvis hits and other fun songs during lunch.

Over 50 prizes were also shared out in a free raffle draw for all the players including umbrellas, golf balls, green fees, caps and golf clubs!

First place went to Gabriel Fraile and Francisco Sanchez, second place went to Gerd Ervum and Vivienne Welsby and third place Adam Flint and Andrew Whitney.  Nearest the pin winners were Orla Martin, Margot Jann, Mª José Vegas, Frank Scheelings and Adam Flint. Longest Drive winner for ladies was Angelika Schleicher and longest drive winners for men were David Sanchez and Adam Flint.

The next Ku’Damm tournament takes place on the 28th of December 2019, so make sure to register your entry at Alhaurín golf so as to not miss this great event.

CENTRAL FM's 2018 GOLF TOURNAMENT



Central FM Radio celebrated 2nd Golf Tournament in June 2018 with a fabulous Golf Tournament which was held at Alhaurín Golf, a beautiful golf course designed by legendary Severiano Ballesteros.

Sponsored by FORD GARAGE VICTORIA, ARCOPLAN, LIBERTY SEGUROS and KUDAMM RESTAURANT the event was a huge success with first, second and third place winners plus 5 nearest the pin trophies and 4 longest drive trophies, sponsored by DaFano's Italian Restaurant, Martin's Hair and Beauty Lounge, Fredericks Bar Bistro, Rubi Restaurant,Oasis Dental and Apollo.  The players also enjoyed a refreshment at Hole 13 with the DeVERE GROUP

All the players enjoyed a fabulous PAIRS TEXAS SCRAMBLE tournament followed by a wonderful 3 course lunch and a fun free raffle draw with over 50 prizes for the players, plus an auction!

First place winner trophies went to Anthony Dunlop and Simon Hoffman, second place  Eddy Robertson and partner and third place to Andy Brown and Reid Hagroom.  Nearest the pin winners were John Gale (who won 2 tropies), Kenneth Anderson, Elly Van Camping and Eddy Robertson and longest drive winners were Mitchell Byrnet, Simon Hoffman and Shami Dinami ( who won 2 trophies).

On Hole 12 Central FM Sponsored their nearest the pin by giving away a 40 inch TV. It was won by Eddy Robertson who asked Central FM to auction the TV off to raise money for the children’s home in Málaga, Ciudad de los Niños. There were many other items donated for auction to raise money. Massive thank you to everyone who helped by donating their prizes to help raise funds.

The Central FM team had a great time (just missing out on a trophy) with Andy Little, Steven Burns , John Gale and Danny Ford and all looking forward to the next one!

2017 RYDER CUP AT ALHAURIN GOLF COURSE

Spain win the 7th annual Ryder Cup at Alhaurin Golf Course against the Rest of the World.



Central FM's Andy Little & Steve Burns were part of the Rest Of The World Ryder Cup team. The format was pairs better ball. There was a great atmosphere and the banter was all in good fun. A great tournament followed by a 3 course meal and presentation ceremony.

Spain beat  Rest of the World with a result of 12 to 10. Congratulations to all.

CENTRAL FM'S FIRST GOLG TOURNAMENT A HUGE SUCCESS



Central FM Radio celebrated it’s 21st anniversary in June 2017 with a fabulous Golf Tournament which was held at Alhaurín Golf, a beautiful golf course designed by legendary Severiano Ballesteros.

Sponsored by The Bodyworks Health Clinic, Martin’s Hair and Beauty Lounge, Arcoplan and Diamonds and Pearls Events Management, the event was a huge success with first, second and third place winners plus 3 nearest the pin trophies and two longest drive trophies, sponsored by DeVere, Moochers Jazz Café, Sanitas and Amanda Lou Jones Design who designed all the social media graphics, web promotion and the tournament booklet.  The players also enjoyed a refreshment at Hole 13 with the Bodyworks Health Clinic where Mark MacRae, (golf pro), Estelle Physio and Emmie Cross offered a free consultation.

All the players enjoyed a fabulous better ball tournament followed by a wonderful 3 course lunch and a fun free raffle draw with over 30 prizes for the players, plus an auction!

Diamonds and Pearls Events Management together with  England Rugby legend Matt Dawson donated a signed England Rugby Shirt and Titleist donated a great golf bag, both of which were auctioned for the children’s home in Málaga, Ciudad de los Niños.  

First place winner trophies went to Gary Robinson and Juan Lopez Moreno, second place Denis Shredhardt and Osrald Shredhardt and third place to Roger Blackmore and Kevin Eadie.  Nearest the pin winners were Kees de Cock, Gary Robinson and Andy Whitney and longest drive winners were Janet Cox and Ranjit Tillekeratne.

The Central FM team had a great time with Andy Little, Steven Burns , John Gale and Danny Ford and all looking forward to the next one!

ALHAURIN GOLF HOSTS THE 6th ANNUAL RYDER CUP TOURNAMENT



December 10, two competitions were held in Alhaurín Golf. Due to heavy rains they had to celebrate both the 6th edition of the Ryder Cup and the Christmas Tournament together.

Central FM's Andy Little & Steve Burns were part of the Rest Of The World Ryder Cup team. The format was pairs better ball, on one hand, with a match play for the Ryder Cup between the pairs of the Spanish Team and the pairs of the Rest of the World Team, and on the other hand the Christmas Tournament, with prize for the first three pairs classified.This time the weather was good and they enjoyed a great day of golf where the Rest of the World was the winning team of the Ryder Cup with a result of 11 to 8.

Sunday 9th April,  Alhaurin Golf hosted the VIII edition of the Ron Pratt Memorial under the Texas Scramble format with teams of 4 players.

The participants enjoyed a magnificient day of golf, surrounded by Ron´s family, whom as every year didn´t want to miss such a special day.

CENTRAL FM PLAYS IN CIUDAD DE COIN TOURNAMENT AT ALHAURIN GOLF


Tasting the finest slivers of Serrano ham seemed a little surreal at 8:45 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Particularly as this was on the tee box of the 8th hole at Alhaurin Golf.

Dawn was breaking and the morning light glinted off the players clubs as they readied themselves for the shotgun-start of the 3rd annual Ciudad de Coín tournament. The early-morning peace was shattered as the loud BANG (and accompanying puff of smoke) signalled that the 88 golfers, Central FM’s Andy Little and Steve Burns among them, should take their first tentative tee-shots to get the event started.



At the 13th hole players were greeted by a stall set up by a local business, offering complimentary Spanish meats including Lomo con Manteca and Chorizo. These were served on rustic bread and accompanied by a refreshing San Miguel (ok, it was before noon but who’s counting?)

As the holes rolled by, the sun strengthened, evaporating the morning dew and causing the greens to pick up in pace. The buzz of being in the competition could be felt in the atmosphere, accompanied by distant whoops, cheers, groans and shots of FOOOOOOORE as balls rolled, bounced or were deflected on their merry way towards their waiting obstacles.



The joy of playing at Alhaurin is the atmosphere. The staff are friendly, lively and welcoming as are the members. Nothing is too much trouble and this is reflected in the overall feel of playing there. Although rules are strictly followed, nobody takes the game TOO seriously. It was in this spirit that we collapsed in fits of laughter when Central FM’s  playing partner, Arthur, was cursed by horrible luck as the head of his 8-iron came shooting off into the bushes.



As the nearest-to-the-pin competition was located at the 4th (Par 3), it was one of the last holes Andy and Steve played that day. The green is a fiendish, sloping, meandering postage-stamp of grass guarded by unforgiving scrub and a large bunker.

The  penultimate challenge for the Central FM players was Alhaurin’s signature hole – a spectacular par 5 dogleg with the tee-box at the very top of the course offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and the soft blue of the Med in the distance. A sensible player will hit straight and be happy to make the fairway.  At this stage, however, nobody was feeling anything but sensible. The risk of attempting the near-impossible shot of cutting the corner is only for the longest hitters. Crack, crack, crack! 3 tee shots off into the ether, followed by a nerve-wracking drive down to see if we had made it.

Much to the disappointment of his playing partners (now facing a penalty drop and hitting 3), Andy Little was rewarded by the sight of a shiny white ball sitting right in the middle of the fairway, a mere 150 metres from the pin. You’ll have to ask him what happened after that....


Andy and Steve finished their round having had a thoroughly good time, despite being caught out on many occasions by the genius of Seve Ballesteros’ course design. Alhaurin is a truly playable course which never fails to surprise. Seve rewards the bold and the cautious in equal measure with some unpredictable bounces, kicks and rolls that can make the difference between a good round and a great one.

Having failed to reach the 30 Stableford points required to even get a mention at the prize-giving (it was eventually won with 41 points and an even-par 72), Andy and Steve contented themselves with a fabulous 3 course lunch comprising assorted tapas, rosemary pork sirloin and ice cream.



The prizes were abundant – in fact almost every player received something. This is one of the reasons the Ciudad de Coín Tournament is oversubscribed every year. Ranging from shirts, gloves and clubs to complementary green fees, weekend getaways and even a jamón the generosity of the sponsors left everyone feeling that, at 35€ (members) and 55€ (non-members), this is a competition well worth participating in.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary this year with an evening of fabulous entertainment at the Sunset Beach Hotel on the 28th of May.

The event included International artist Desi Egan, Award winning illusion act Mystica, (never seen on the coast before) plus the amazing Lindsay Rose and excellent band Revival.

This party was organised as a 'thank you' to our clients, technicians, listeners and supporters.

CENTRAL FM RECEIVES AWARD FOR WORK IN THE COMMUNITY


The Mayoress of Benalmadena, Paloma Garcia Galvez, presented Nataly Garcia an award and statuette for the amazing work that Central FM Radio has done and does for the community of Benalmadena. A special mention was made regarding Central FM's involvement in the St George's Day celebration as well as other news and promotions the radio station shares with the listeners to help The Town Hall convey their message to the foreigners of Benalmadena. One of the many town halls that Central FM work with.
